I was reading at the Brickipedia site about upcoming 2013 LEGO sets and found several in a list which were referred to as "DTC", as in "40055 DTC Seasonal Halloween 2013" found here. What does the DTC stand for?

I believe that in this context DTC means direct to consumer. These sets are typically only available directly from TLG either via online orders from LEGO S@H or from LEGO retail stores.

Ok, that sounds like it fits but what does 'direct to consumer' mean? In the Wikipedia page about DTC it references pharmaceuticals and marketing directed at the patient instead of going through the medical professionals. In the context of LEGO sets, what would direct to consumer marketing or retailing mean? – Lynnea Taylor Dec 9 '12 at 21:28

I believe that direct to consumer refers to sets that are only available on S@H and in LEGO retail stores. I'll update my answer. – jncraton Dec 9 '12 at 22:47
