comment lego ideas (with traditional bricks)
That's correct Sergio. They have a lot of "core" pieces are are really great for a wide variety of other models. You can check out the Creator sets at Lego's website: lego.com/en-us/creator/products/all-models

comment Is there any way to buy specific duplo blocks from Lego (pick-a-brick style and/or in bulk)?
Bricklink is definitely what you're looking for. Here's a deep link to the Bricklink parts listing: bricklink.com/browseTree.asp?itemType=P. Just go down on the left and you'll see Duplo parts. Go slow on Bricklink, it can take a while to get the hang of.

I've had similar problems with other ball sockets. I posted a picture a while ago about this exact problem: flickr.com/photos/grandpappy/3988584161

comment Will it be fun to go to Legoland with my family?
I had a similar experience. My wife and I had a great time at Legoland (I've been to the one in Billund and Florida). However, my wife wasn't as interested in examining the models as I was.

comment How do I build a sloped roof with a 60° rake?
I imagine they stopped producing it because you can create the same slope with other available elements (like hinges), and those other elements provide a much wider range of building possibilities.

@Ambo1000: I wasn't referring to the bulk bag. I'm referring to the cases of parts that they get shipped in for the Pick-a-Brick wall. They're smallish cardboard boxes just heaped with parts. It shouldn't be an issue of "getting there early" - all the Lego stores typically keep a stockpile of them in the back. Pretty much what Zhaph said, I guess!

If you can find a Lego store, they can sell cases of bricks if you ask the manager. They'll have to give you a price, but it's what the store itself uses to stock it's Pick-a-Brick wall.
