Wow. Great answer. I had not seen the slides before. You are correct, the slides explicitly state that the use we're now seeing is legal.

I hadn't seen that yet. It looks like they are keeping the technique to just a single stud in a single hole. That's interesting!

comment How can I easily remove a jumper plate without a brick separator?
There's actually a new Brick Separator coming that has an offset anti-stud that can be used for jumper plates. Check out this Brothers-Brick article: brothers-brick.com/2011/10/05/…

comment How strong are blocks in general - is adhesive necessary when building large structures?
I have had to use glue on MOCs when they received enough heat damage to the point where the clutch on the pieces fails to hold it together anymore.

It's also quite common to see Technic skeletons used inside of Lego builds to hang the rest of the pieces on. Lego itself uses this technique in their larger UCS Star Wars sets.

comment How can I identify kits from a box of parts?
Also, once you have parts for at least one kit identified, use rebrickable.com to find other kits that you may also have had with those parts.

comment When did Lego decide that it was okay to put a stud into a technic hole?
Yes, but it seems to be a technique that is fairly recent for the company. My question isn't about how Lego uses this technique, but about when they started using it. I don't know of any definitive set when they began using this technique (it's been used by AFOLs for a long while).

comment What is the bley (blay) color?
I think at this point bley isn't really used in a derogatory way these days. It's just Lego's current grey, and is often used to divine the difference between the "old" gray and the new one.

comment Alternative products compatible with LEGO
I agree with Joe; there's no one set of correct answers. It's a wiki-type question, and is too early for this site.
