comment Is there any other way to program the Lego Mindstorms NXT other than the provided software?
As an example of the programming logic running on another device, my nxt floppy-disk machine used Python on a laptop to control an NXT running the standard firmware.

comment Technic axle corrosion? What happened here?
Take a close look at your Technic bricks from this collection; is there any indication of that kind of "corrosion" on the inside of any of the holes?

comment How can I blow a stream of air for up to two minutes at a time?
I think you'll find that studs-up construction for the housing will give you enough air-tightness. My concern would be if you could get enough pressure from it... I'm not sure how much it would take. You might try experimenting with a hair dryer, shop-vac, and small fans and the like to see just how much air you'll need. Building a squirrel-cage fan is a fun little project all on its own, too! :)

comment My Own Train vs. other 9v trains
If only those had come out early in my "HO train"-phase instead of the middle of my DarkAge....

comment How much depth does the NXT battery pack add?
My white 10VDC battery pack arrived today. It adds the same thickness as a studless beam, same as the 9VAC battery pack.

I hadn't realized what the going rate for pneumatics was on bricklink.

comment Is there a reliable way to determine what minifigure is in a LEGO Minifigures series package?
@Ambo100: Given that TLG has moved away from the bumps and dots, those are more for historical interest (and an exhaustive answer) than practical use at this point.

comment Why does the Erling brick have a ridge below its outward facing stud?
There are a couple more uses as well. Two Erlings one stud apart can have a horizontal brick connect them. And you can use 8 to make a cube to which 2x2 plates can be attached (about the size of a Lego die). Very useful parts!

comment What is the smallest LEGO component?
I have one of these and wondered what it was. With four kids in the house, I suspect I won't have it for too much longer... :/
