comment What are LEGO baseplates made from?
I did not say all Lego parts are ABS; I specifically mentioned "rigid plastic" Lego elements. Obviously I am not counting the molded rubber pieces, the strings, the capes, etc. (I concede that, upon further research, the transparent Lego elements may not be made from ABS.) The baseplates are, in fact, ABS, and they are only more flexible because they are thinner than other Lego elements. Brickowl thinks they are made of ABS: brickowl.com/catalog/lego-baseplate-32-x-32-3811

comment How can odors be removed from bricks?
How many cleanings do you need? You clean them once, then take care of them properly.

comment Lego Racer kit with Chargeable Cars
The part numbers are standardized, but many of the parts are hand-entered into these third-party databases. Someone made a mistake, unless Lego released two versions of the set (not unheard of). Lego's official inventory pages (service.lego.com/en-us/replacementparts?#WhatBrickBuy/8364) often do not include brand new or rare parts.

comment Is there a Technic set that is just an assortment of parts and not a specific vehicle?
Lego sells Technic parts packs through their Education line. See my comment for further detail.

comment Third-party blocks with a smiling face or an umbrella with 2 dots on each side
I uploaded an image of blocks with the mystery umbrella/smiley/anchor(?) logo. The blocks don't have any other indication on them of manufacturer, although based on the collection they were found in, I would estimate they were sold in the mid-1980s.
