I'm a Senior Software Developer. I strive to be a polymathic person interested in a range of subjects which positions me as an Innovator, Problem Solver and Solution Designer.

I gained a broad set of experiences by programming since 1993 in different fields of engineering application. With a speciality in computer vision & CAD, I’m also the inventor of a US patent-pending algorithm in the field of Facility Management.

My current technology focus is on Cloud Computing, mobile computing and HPC. At home I do math, robotics and sculpting.

In the end I will build a system like this one. When get to it I'll post a link to pictures.

@Ambo100 if you build your cylinders with rounded ends they will accept the imperfections. you could use Technic axles and cap them with a Axle Towball (2736)

comment Has anyone automated the LEGO hand sorting process beyond “pawing & piling”?
@MajorStackings The hard part is not the output mechanism. Recognizing the bricks is everything and this system is amazing at that (even using computer vision). Once that's done, optimizing the speed can be done several ways and on several components (software, mechanical, structural). One simple way to augment the speed would be to put many similar detectors in parallel but connected to the same input and output systems.
