I'm a Senior Software Developer. I strive to be a polymathic person interested in a range of subjects which positions me as an Innovator, Problem Solver and Solution Designer.

I gained a broad set of experiences by programming since 1993 in different fields of engineering application. With a speciality in computer vision & CAD, I’m also the inventor of a US patent-pending algorithm in the field of Facility Management.

My current technology focus is on Cloud Computing, mobile computing and HPC. At home I do math, robotics and sculpting.

comment How to start with technic?
I support the idea of getting a big set first. Personally when I got back into LEGO Technic (for the purpose of using it with MindStorms) I got the 4x4 Off Roader (#8466, 1134 pieces)

comment What is the brown ship in the Star Wars 2012 advent calendar?
Welcome to the site. This answer does give a lot of information (The relatively short answer from McKay already refers to the same vehicle with more details and links). If this is your first time on a StackExchange site I invite you to read the FAQ (link at the top right). This will show you how you can ask and answer questions.

comment How can I efficiently pick up bricks off the floor?
The question is not about the merits of playing on the floor but about what to do to pick up pieces once they're on the floor. On the other hand, I also prefer to build on the table so I don't lose pieces.

Good. How about the switch faces? Are they worn? Is there a groove?

@jakob Any more info you could give us? If you answer the questions from Ambo100 and I we could move forward with this question.

It sounds like you have the wrong NXT release. Where did you get that v2.1? Can you give the link?

comment What is the official term used for building MOC models?
I agree with 'build' and 'building' has a general term. That's what I use even when I'm building an actual Set.

comment Apart from the LEGO brick, is there any other hardware that has an NXT firmware written for it?
Exactly right. There is no LEGO NXT firmware that works on other devices than the original LEGO NXT brick. Since @frazras was also interested in accessing the wealth of hardware available in the generic electronic community, I've added a couple of alternatives.

Do you also have a PC with a Linux install? That is how I'm using my old RCX 2.0. If you do I'll put up an answer with the Linux info.

comment What LEGO wheels would look like the three types used on the JPL Mars Rovers?
I'm only missing 1 wheel (2x 64711) for the MSL rover so I'll order that online. It won't slow me down too much since I'll start with the small rover and build my way up. I'll probably document the build (or show the result) on my blog.
