comment What are the differences between NiMH and Alkaline batteries for the EV3?
The difference between alkaline and NiMH is not so clear: Good NiMH have a discharge curve flatter than alkaline so they may actually last longer (even if initial performance is lower than alkaline). See philohome.com/batteries/bat.htm.

comment What is the purpose of this plate with door rail?
And the 2 stud version was often used to secure the old 9V motor (bricklink.com/PL/71427c01.gif?0) that had two grooves on each sides, allowing it to be removed easily.

comment What are the biggest one piece wheel?
Confirmed, though it is missing a center hub and is thus difficult to use. The next in size that does have one is 59521 bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=59521

comment How can a Mindstorms robot lift something very heavy?
Proper down gearing (and strong structures) can indeed make wonders... See this tiny LEGO RCX robot lifting and moving a 44kg load: philohome.com/hoist/hoist.htm

comment How to control a 88004 Servo Motor with a Raspberry Pi?
The duty cycle percentage is the ratio between powered time over cycle period. Eg. here, a 30% duty cycle at 1200 Hz means 250µs on / 583µs off.

comment How can I attach a Technic Linear Actuator to a EV3 Medium Motor?
For the large linear actuator you can also used this specialized part (bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61905) but unfortunately it's rare and expensive

comment Help identifying a black round piece with three rings
For the record, this part is also one of the two glued halves forming the old pin joiner (brickset.com/parts/design-75535). Its LEGO reference is 6221 (brickset.com/parts/design-6221)

comment How to unplug black friction pin connectors
My preferred method is the last one, but instead of using a Technic brick, I use a half width beam. The stick blocks the pin as it does with the full width brick, but once the stick is removed, the pin is very easy to pull out from the beam.

comment Can anyone explain the transformation information within a Lego Digital Designer LXF file?
"Brick width is 0.8, brick height is 0.96 and plate height 0.32.": These are dimensions of bricks in centimeters...

comment Installing Linux on my NXT
And the USB port is a slave type one, not a host, so you can't connect a device (printer) to NXT.

comment Turn a tank a specific number of degrees
As dfrevert said, tracks MUST slip to turn, it's impossible otherwise. The IR sensor returns an indication of the difference of illumination received by the two internal receivers, this is by no way an angle. Same of thing when used as a distance sensor, it gives an indication based on strength of IR echoed to the sensor, so it is not linear and repends on reflectivity of target.

comment Can you identify this model of a yellow truck?
From the size and style of the model, I felt it could be a model from one universal box. A quick browse in the proper section of peeron database gave the answer... Other useful databases are Brickset brickset.com (among other things it lists official building instructions from modern sets) and Bricklink bricklink.com. Old building instructions are available here too: brickfactory.info

comment NXT Bluetooth “Failed!” when turning on
No, the button located under the battery pack is there to make the brick know that it is powered by a rechargeable battery pack. The battery pack has a pin that presses this button, this changes the battery charge level voltage thresholds to adapt to different technology.
