Ben Duguid works in London, UK as Head of Back-end Development for Hugo & Cat, mostly delivering web sites on various Microsoft based platforms.

He has run internal training sessions helping other developers get up to speed in the technologies he knows about, and tries hard to get others to do the same.

For what it's worth he is an MCPD in ASP.NET 3.5, and is currently a Pro-Tem Mod on LEGO Answers

comment Which is faster: M motor or XL motor?
@TaylorGarrett L and M motors have the same unloaded rotation speed (380rpm) which is faster than the XL (220rpm), however they both have lower torque, which means that they will stall under lower loads than the XL.

comment Direct control of EV3
In relation to both these questions, I'm guessing the main issue is the Rack and pinion nature of the steering - you really need to use a servo motor for the steering, where it only travels between a limited number of degrees, and can return to "home" when you release the control.

comment What is considered the most valuable LEGO set?
On the basis that this question appears to be devolving into a list of people posting their one or two set suggestions, and user23 has sadly moved on, I'm going to turn this into a Community Wiki and merge some of these answers.

Pair programming for the win - often it just needs another pair of eyes ;)
