Why do some sets have two different numbers? The Space sets also released first in North America in 1979 while Europe got Castle. The Idea Book 6000 came out in 1980 depicting the full range to both sides. In 1981 the distribution crossed over after Castle had test-marketed in a few cities in the US. The Castle sets like 383 Knights Tournament got new 60xx numbers assigned at that time too. |

Does Lego market sets that were designed by fans? I just remembered James Mathis' 10025 - Santa Fe Cars I and 10022 - Santa Fe Cars II two more fan designed sets. |

Why did Technic bricks have holes in the studs? Television antenna spokes? Flower stems? |

Why did Technic bricks have holes in the studs? Oops, the gate was on a corner of the brick in the 1960s when it was made of cellulose acetate. So the stud logo came before the stud gate. |

Why did Technic bricks have holes in the studs? The jumper brick was a contemporary of Expert Builder, and space sets used the hole by plugging a torch into it. |

Why did Technic bricks have holes in the studs? Curiously, plastics texts suggest placing a logo to hide the injection gate, which is typically on a stud. LEGO does this (look for one or more logos with a blob in the center), but I have no idea if they pioneered it or just jumped on board. It is certainly part of their trade dress now. |

Are companies producing custom molded LEGO pieces legally entitled to do so? Technically: this is off topic (no legal questions on stack exchange) |
