comment Brick-built alternative to “Door 2 x 5 x 5 Swivel, Bracket Base”
If you're asking why I used Technic parts, it's because they provide a very compact, sturdy, and nearly frictionless way to create a pivot point at the top and bottom of the door. They are also rounded on the ends, which prevents the door from binding.

If you need more space on the platform, you could use 7 wide beams for the door rather than 5. While being bigger than your original design, this should give you plenty of space for your statue.

It should be possible to make this a little shorter. One simple way would be to build a full size Technic brick into the floor rather than the half size one that I used. This would allow you to flip the pin at the bottom the other way around and allow the platform that the minifig is standing on to be lowered down to the level of the ground. That assumes that you have space to build into your floor, though.

comment Is there a freely downloadable set and part dataset?
I've updated my link and added a note about getting this data directly from Rebrickable. If you aren't familiar with Rebrickable, you should check it out. It sounds like it does exactly what you are trying to do.

comment How make a 6x6 board rotate using LEGO technic parts?
That's a great point. I assumed from the question that it would be helpful to use gears to directly control the turntable, but if that isn't important than many other turntables could do nicely. I updated the answer to include the newer studless Technic turntable as that should be easier to find, allows direct drive, and isn't in the turntable category that you linked to.

comment Why are minifigure wrenches tapered at the end?
I agree. This seems to be a particularly strange decision considering that there is a separate screwdriver tool for minifigs (although it didn't appear until 1995). peeron.com/inv/parts/6246a

comment Why are minifigure wrenches tapered at the end?
It's intended as a screwdriver for minifigs. As a human tool, it has been included in the Games line for removing tiles from dice. I'm not aware of any instance where this was intended as a usable screwdriver.

This does technically run on air, but the air has to be compressed. This is often done using an electric compressor.

Bar elements don't seem to fit through the hole in 3829c01 as noted in the question. You might be thinking of 30663. That part is commonly attached using bar elements.

Great answer! I hadn't thought about the fact that this change prevents the gear from sliding into the holes in bricks.

The general concept is that the reel on the wheels is consuming string from the other reel as the wheels turn. Once there is no additional string left, the wheels are forced to stop turning (or break the string).

I added an extra image to my answer to try to make this a little clearer for you. I'll be honest though, since this seems to be for some sort of educational assignment or competition, I don't want to give you a complete perfect answer. This is the basic concept. You'll need to adapt it and improve it to work for you.

comment Technique for multifacteted roof without 3049
Thanks for the answer. I may end up using another color, but I was hoping to avoid this if possible. I didn't mention this in the question, but this is a microscale creation, and in several places the roof is only 1 or 2 bricks high, so I didn't feel that color variations would look as nice as they do in larger minifig scale creations.
