Former LEGO ambassador and LEGO zealot as a whole. If I could give negative rep for people writing "Legos", I would. It's going to be very hard not to suspend any offender though.

Although that makes sense, I think that's not totally correct, as I've never heard of an extra part missing, or of an extra extra part. I think the rationale is more than certain parts (1x1 round, cheese slope, technic pins...) are more likely to end up lost, and thus you get a replacement part right from the start. But it's always small parts, yes.

comment Does the Power Functions IR Remote Control 8885 make a good remote for a car?
The train remote should be OK for speed, but steering is probably not going to be easy. One thing you could do is combine one of each, but that may be extreme. Note there is also a specific PF car base, but frankly it's not that great. Or, a NXT brick with a IRLink, then you can do pretty much what you want programatically.

comment What is the difference between Shuttle Adventurer (10213) and Shuttle Expedition (10231)
Actually the lower age requirement was the driving force behind the change, and that's why the model was deemed not stable enough as it was. It was just stable enough for 16+, not 14+. Anyway, see Kramii's answer which is authoritative.

comment Is it possible to add the power functions to Western Train Chase?
All train elements in the Western Train chase are standard ones, including train wheels and magnets. The construction of the front is certainly a bit different, but I've seen people replacing that by a motor (9V, actually) without trouble. You could also motorize the first waggon, which may be easier to fit a battery box.

comment How do I add a light to the Red Cargo Train?
@tooshel Not really, the "Erling" brick is the nickname of the brick illustrated above. However, there is a newer 1x1 brick with 1 stud, where the stud is not recessed, and that had a closed back. That's what Pierre Normandin used for the lights of that train, so you'll have to replace them. You could also use 1x1 Technic bricks if you have some.

@PeterDC Nice! Frankly, you could have made you own answer with that, considering the effort you put in making this.

comment Ninjago lightning and fire dragons
@Terix that's probably your best bet, the problem is that the dragons are brick-built, so I'm not too sure if people will sell them separately. Keep in mind there's probably not going to be any BrickLink entry for them, so it will be harder for sellers who would want to do that. Well, they may list the set and say "warning, dragon only" or something, but it won't be easy for you to find. So what I'm saying is, don't count too much on option 1.

Not sure you can make a 60° angle with these, though. Seems too acute.

comment My Own Train vs. other 9v trains
@abatishchev On a possible my-own-train tag: Thanks for the suggestion, but to be honest the current pro-tempore mods feel it's not eally useful at the moment, considering it probably wouldn't be used that much, and the trains tag isn't really overcrowded right now.

Not too sure what to answer, what kind of pros/cons are you looking for? I think the reasons for its lack of popularity may be quite subtle to pinpoint, too. Maybe it wasn't proposed by enough regular shops, or there was a lack of a complete set (since you had to buy a lot of things separately)... I don't know.
